The Great Smoky Mountains has a special place in my heart as a source of rejuvenation for my spirit, my body and my sense of peace.
I often travel with friends for weekend
photo junkets. Our game plan is simple: sunrise at Clingman's Dome, scatter with the four winds throughout the day, regroup at Clingman's for sunset.
I usually spend one day away from the group to
hike alone. These hikes are usually six to eight miles long, along a trail new to me. It is on these hikes that I discover little-known creeks and waterfalls, ruins of settlers homes, wildlife and flora often missed by
passers-by along the roadways. I usually become so engrossed by the scenery that I forget the camera and tripod resting on my shoulder.
The photographs available here are but some of those I have in
my collection.
I believe in giving back to those and that which has given to me. A portion from all sales of my Smokies work is given to the Great Smoky Mountain Natural History Association. |
